The progressive-left seeking to expand their presence in the General Assembly, with at least 14 challengers to more mainstream and moderate Democrat and Republican incumbents or in open seats. Conversely, progressives must defend 17 seats in either primary or general election races.
If you are registered as an unaffiliated voter, you can vote in either primary. Please review this list of races to decide if it might be more strategic to vote in the Democrat primaries for statewide office, especially if there is also a General Assembly primary in your district.
We recommend voting against all progressive candidates, except for the progressive-challengers to Governor Raimondo and Senator Whitehouse; as all four candidates have strong progressive credentials, Matt Brown and Pat Fontes should be much easier to defeat in the general election.
